Mayors' Ride Bios -Jack Martin

1. Which Relay link do you want to ride?

Davis to Folsom, CA

2. How you found us

Martin Krieg told me about it and recommended it highly.

3. Why you want to do this ride

I think the overall project, as portrayed on the website, is worthy of national exposure and could be of benefit to a lot of people. Since I am an avid bike rider, anyway, I feel partial responsibility to throw my weight in to help.

4. Tell us about your touring experience- if little or none, indicate many miles have you ridden over the last year:

No pure touring as I understand it. I have, however, ridden several days individually excess of 60 miles per day and I also have done Olympic-distance Triathlons.

5. Tell us about your bike

Specialized Allez Elite, 2003 model. Carbon fiver forks, Tri bars, gel seat, trip computer. Silver and Black.

6. Describe your training regimen

Bike two days a week, shorter distances, doing hi-speed intervals training. One day a week doing a ride 40 miles or more. Run twice a week, about 5 miles each time. Weight training when time allows in the evening.

7. How are you making time for this

37 miles will only need one day. No big deal

8 What are your fears about doing this ride

None really.

9. Do you have any special skills that you feel would benefit the Mayors' Ride?

Well, I am a software engineer, not sure if that might be of benefit. Also, I have ridden over most of the West on a motorcycle, so am somewhat familiar with many places on the route.

10. Anything else you'd like to share with us?

My bike mounted hydration stem called the GOMB-er
