Handcyclist & Actress Ride for NBG in MR2004??

The fire is already starting to build for our Mayors' Ride next summer. I am using this public forum to answer world famous handcyclist Steve Ackerman who may ride with us next June or July! In a wheelchair since 1987 as a result of a ski accident, for those who don't know, Steve used him arms to circumnavigate the world in 1995 and has a video out about that journey called the "Possible Dream". Talk about Big Power!!

Yes Steve!! We WANT you to ride with us next summer. Which leg do U want to crank?

Steve and I spoke about our ride about this time last year but scheduling prevented him from doing anything for us then. Looks propitious for next summer tho -- I will keep U posted as to what develops.

Here over the weekend, I have also been in contact with Libby Aubrey. A world class masters cyclist, she is also a respected actress down there in the southern part of our state who thru her two wheel advocacy work can't seem to help but rub elbows with the rich and the politically well connected (she was busy this weekend working with her friend Arnold Schwarzneggar, as he prepares to take office) . If you go to her site, fasten your seat belts, as not only is she beautiful, but her list of accomplishments and credentials will truly make your head spin. Libby has intimated that she might be able to build us a ride from Palos Verdes (near LA) to Santa Barbara. A distance of 107 miles, that leg is almost all along the Pacific Coast!! More as that develops!!
