THX for this Faye. Yesterday when I rode Palo Alto to Oakland/Berkeley I had people pumping their fists and calling out in support all along the way from Fremont to Hayward to San Leandro and etc. And then if they weren't being verbal. tons of others were pointing their cameras at me. Everyone seemed excited to see me everywhere I went.

I called my dad to say goodbye as I was riding that miserable road that leads off the back of the Dumbarton Bridge and he said he had friends asking him if I was his son. He told me the Hayward Review also did a big story. When they found out I grew up there they had called me to do a quick interview but I didn't think it was going to amount to much .... Here is what they did: http://www.insidebayarea.com/search/ci_12280297

At the San Leandro BART where I met Ron Bishop's Oakland team, I felt likeI was under siege until we finally got going. Tons of people were asking if I was that guy they'd seen on TV (here in the ABC 7 story: http://is.gd/vRpK ). And then as we finished the last 14 miles, the fanfare continued but not before Ron brought me the Oakland Tribune feature. Here's the Trib http://www.insidebayarea.com/search/ci_12280297

Here now as I regroup before I take off (wait for a driver) now that the ceremonial rides are done with the Bay Area, I am all the more impressed with the SFBC. That Palo Alto Daily article (in cased U missed it http://is.gd/vcZ2 ) really jacked up a huge buzz here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Everywhere but in San Francisco itself. We couldn't get their paper to do anything and their Mayor who is supposed to be running for governor for the state was as well uninterested. So I don't know how they do it. It's kinda like they've got the popular support and a lot of the Supes (like City Councillors) are in their camp, but the biggest leader there isn't following.

I mean there was no way the man who started Traffic Calming, Berkeley Mayor, Tom Bates, was going to miss our arrival, check out this photo:

And there is no way I am going to miss the Sacto to Folsom River Ride, with or without a support vehicle!! Reno is May 14.........,

THX 4 U!!

In case you missed it, here is another article about your ride: http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_12243871?nclick_check=1 I've even had people at work asking about your fundraising. Sure seems like it's everywhere....... Not to mention the fact that the Merc has a bunch of new pictures of you and your bike that I've never seen.

Palo Alto 2009 Send Off

Our symbolic send off that connected Palo Alto with San Francisco 35 miles away, is now on the books. Until the rubber hits the road on Wed, 5/6. we are busy trying to track down a driver to support tis ride. The vehicle we are very close to securing for this journey is a 21 foot, Chey G-30 w/a Mini Winnie Campsite brand camper shell..

A seemingly normal, yet maybe crazy guy named Martin Kreig is going to ride a one of a kind Pennyfarthing big wheel bike 4017 miles across the US. Along the way, he'll be visiting 25 mayors in 25 cities to promote a national bikeway. He leaves from San Francisco and enters Immigrant Pass next Monday, May 11. Please check the print -

and ABC News story on him that ran on May 1st at

It's quite a trip and story. His background and determination are amazing. He rounded up an RV to use from the "burning Man" folks.
However, due to the economy, he just lost his major sponsor and is working on a shoestring.

Most pressing of all is that he needs a driver and a videographer to chronicle the journey. This seems like cool Travel Channel stuff.
Can you help him? Do you know anyone that would like a BIG adventure?

Martin can be reached at Hiwheeler@gmail.com or in Palo Alto at 415-240-4712. c 415 - 606-5043
