DeWayne Quinn Gets Sacramento Excited

DeWayne Quinn's excitement for his ride from Sacramento to Davis is becoming contagious as per the following:

I just got off the phone with one of the local television stations. We just agreed to have me ride in to (literally) the station the day of the ride and they will provide 3 minutes of air time for the event. We will continue on down the way to Napa there after. I hope to do that for at least 2 TV stations, and am trying to get some coverage from the local newspaper (Sacramento Bee).

Hi there;
My name is Jim "Parky" Wetherell, & I was told in June of 1998 that I
needed to give up cycling because Parkinson's disease was taking away my
ability to balance. But with my love for cycling & a fear of my future, I
made the decision to add a wheel rather than selling two. I bought a
recumbent trike! That was 5 years, & more than 30,000 miles ago. Now in
August I need your help, as I will be riding the last 4 legs of the National
Mayor's Relay Ride that started on May 2nd in Washington D.C. & will
terminate in Santa Cruz, Ca. on Aug. 17th. I will be riding from Oakland to
San Francisco 8-11-03/San Francisco to Palo Alto 8-13-03/Palo Alto to San
Jose 8-14-03/& will be lead rider on 8-15-03, from San Jose to Santa Cruz,
Ca.

I would like nothing more than to have enough riders with me, that we could
easily bring needed attention to the need for safe roads, with room for bike
lanes outside of the street gutters, & at the same time bring hope to all
physically challenged people who might need a little bit of hope to
kickstart them back into living with a positive attitude.

By myself, I can make myself heard. With you beside me, we can make a
difference!

It's not required, but if your club would like to make a cash donation to
the Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group, I can assure you that the money
collected will be used locally, in the Bay area.

If you would like to share your time &riding skills, please contact Martin
Krieg at NBG@bikeroute.com , or me at parky@netzon.net .
