KPIG to Start Plugging Santa Cruz NBG Bike Fest

Expect the second annual Santa Cruz NBG Bike Fest http://nbg.bikeroute.com/Events/Festival to start filling the Santa Cruz and Monterey County ethers with its guarantee of excitement (Prince Lawsha makes his only US appearance, etc, etc) as KPIG radio soon starts promoting our event!! As Major Sponsors, their on the air radio jocks will be talking about our upcoming event for the next two months as our Mayors' Ride cyclists http://www.bikeroute.com/NationalMayorsRide roar ever closer to their receptions in CO, UT, ID, NV, OR, CA and the SF Bay Area cities of Berkeley, Oakland, SF, Palo Alto, San Jose for their reception here by Mayor Emily Reilly (either her or a city official) on Friday August 15. Two days later, the grand party that celebrates them and petitions (speakers to include Congressman Sam Farr, Assemblyman John Laird, Supervisor Mardi Warmhoudt and Councilman/Transportation Commissioner Dennis Norton) for the Santa Cruz Coastal Rail Trail takes place on Sunday August 17 at San Lorenzo Park!

This is huge folks!! KPIG http://kpig.com , for those of you who don't know, has become the radio voice of Santa Cruz and its impact is felt up and down the Central Coast from Davenport to King City! Wow -- this is further confirmation of the fact that Santa Cruz is indeed the #1 bike town in the US!!

Des Moines NBG reception loaded

We now have the Des Moines reception on line. What took a while was getting all the stories and all the pix in one place. Not to mention the fact that a lot of Jeff Reser's photos ended up getting so overexposed as to render them untenable. Please see:

http://www.bikeroute.com/NationalMayorsRide/DesMoines2003/index.html

And Josh, if you can tell me who those two guys are addressing the crowd, one in a Bike World Jersey, I will note them as well! And all of you, do tune in from time to time. Like the Indy page that I also just upgraded http://www.bikeroute.com/NationalMayorsRide/Indy , there may yet be some press that will turn up for Des Moines. Plus Lorna Davros is sending us the news clip of our event she got from one of their TV stations (there were several there). Does anyone have the software to reformat video so we can link it from our web?

THX 4 U!!

btw: Lorna, like Ro and all of the Mayors' staffers we have worked with, can't wait to make next year bigger and better still!!! Yahooo!!!!
btw2: Boulder and Longmont, the home of High Gear Cyclery, are going to cook this Saturday, 6/21, when Jim Muellner http://www.bikeroute.com/NationalMayorsRide/JimMuellner gets there!!

As per our schedule at http://www.bikeroute.com/NationalMayorsRide , two rides will be coming to Napa, one from Santa Rosa and one from Sacramento, to arrive in your great town on August 1. We typically hold our receptions at the noon hour but since our riders will likely be leaving that morning, let's see if that timing works for them (they are on the cc). And if we can get the Napa bike club involved again as per what we did last year http://www.bikeroute.com/SCNBGFest/NapaRecep.html , perhaps they can let us know what time works best for them (also on the cc).

>Also, if you know the names of the riders that would be helpful.

I will certainly let you know as the list grows. At present DeWayne Quinn is the lead from Sacto and I know he has riders joining him but we'll have to wait for an exact "manifest". Ditto for Bill Haluzak who is coming down from Santa Rosa!

They are the Napa Eagle Cycling club http://www.eaglecyclingclub.org and Sandy Houck served as our liaison in this regard last year. I have her and the main Eagle bike club e-mail addresses on the cc!!

THX so much for this Connie!! August 1 is going to be here before we know it!!

And THX 4 U! and for everyone on this mailing!! By the time we hit Napa, Connie, I suspect you will be the happy recipient of many many happy, smiling and excited faces! Yahooo!!!!

Hi Martin,

I should her from the city soon on the proclamation. As for the food, the
Creekside Cafe has agreed to offer your 4 riders a lunch at their place-- I
assumed it was lunch was it? In any case, the co-owner, Kelly Landers is a
biker too and she's happy to have you. I can try to get their logo for your
site if you'd like. Let me know.

Thanks!

Riley
